Typology

alternative:

The three rules I set for myself are:
1. I can only take pictures of electric guitars
2. I can not take pictures of the full subject, only parts of it
3. I must be within two feet of the subject

  1. This is super phenomenal work! I love your creativity, I think this is incredibly well put together and very out of the box. I also like how you added your contact sheets, and a non-collaged version. I think that there's a really stark difference in tone going from the collage to the regular layout, and I can't tell which one I prefer. I'm not sure that I love the streaks behind the guitar, I see the vision but also I wonder if it pulls attention away from the subject.

  2. This is so super cool. I love the concept, and it was executed really really well. I think you did an awesome job at keeping each part of the guitar in focus, and photographing a variety of guitars. I like the background too. One suggestion I have is that you make sure to line up each part precisely, which I understand is easier said than done, but would really further elevate your work. However, I really do love the way it looks and I am sure a lot of hard work went into creating this. Great job!

  3. The framing of each picture was really well done! I like how you used so many different electric guitars for one photo. Your contact sheets show how much work you put in, and you did a good job placing each photo to make up the guitar.

  5. i LOVE this so much! the collaging of the different parts of the guitar turned out amazing; i think it's really cool that you didn't use cropping to get this effect either! the background you chose for the end result is a really gorgeous example of light painting which i know you've used before :)

  6. This is so cool! I love how you took apart a photo to make a new one. I also like how you did not miss on getting a photo of every angle of the front of the guitar, it's super pleasing to look at. I think it would look so good if you were able to just have the pieces of the guitar in the first photo, rather than the background with the guitar, but it looks amazing regardless!

  7. Amazing creativity that brought a smile to my face when seeing it! I love how the background is so bright and simple so it does not draw away from the complex reconstruction of the guitars, yet the background is not at all boringly simple making the whole thing pleasing to look at.

  8. This is definitely the coolest one I have seen so far. I like how it doesn't follow the typical layout and it makes it unique. The colors go really well together and the background makes it look electric. The theme is consistent and I really hope this one gets printed.

  9. Fantastic! Your adherence to your rules kept the perspective right when you made the collage. Great photoshop work. The background to the top submission also adds to the actual photo collage. Enjoyed viewing

  10. This is awesome Maddie! I love how different this is from others and think the first one is an exception from not following the rule of the typology having to be square or rectangular cells. It is so creative and so fun to look at as all guitars are combined into one! Super cool and would love to see this printed!
